This lovely walk is about 5 miles, and depending on whether you stop for a pint at the Rose and Crown in Ashdon, which is conveniently on the half way point, will take you about 2 hours.
Several days ago HM Government advised us to avoid all non-essential social contact with special mention for pubs, restaurants, clubs and bars.
We could stay open on a limited basis, but we truly believe that this would be the wrong thing to do. The safety of our customers and staff must remain our first priority. This is why we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the pub and restaurant for in-house dining with immediate effect. Our rooms will still be available for booking on a room only basis.
These are extremely difficult times for our industry – we are all about social gatherings and without this there is no business. We cannot work from home, and yet there will still be mortgages, rents and bills to pay, and families to support. We do not know how long this will last.
We will be offering any customers who have paid non refundable deposit for a future booking a full refund if they so wish. If you are happy to leave the deposit with us we will increase the value of that deposit by 25% for future use as a thank you for your generosity and support. We will apply the same approach to the purchase of gift vouchers. If anyone would like to buy a gift voucher for future use we will increase the value of that voucher by 25%.
We are also working on providing a menu for healthy take away and delivery, as we know there will be people in the community who will welcome this. We encourage you to support this effort, as this may be the only way we can stay afloat during what will almost certainly be a lengthy period of extreme difficulty for us all.
Elbow bumps and good wishes
